The WDSF competitions
The WDSF competitions will follow WDSF rules. We have a spectacular panel of adjudicators from 14 countries. Each class will be judged by a panel of 9 or 11 adjudicators, which will provide bonus ranking points. The winners of all classes will receive a cup! Competitors placing first to third will also receive a medal, and all finalists will be awarded a certificate. Additionally, there will be special surprises!
The Open Students Competitions
These special competitions are designed for current or former students and beginners. You do not need to be a member of a student dance association. Experienced dancers are also welcome, but if you compete in B-class or higher, you may not participate with your regular partner. Other than that, there are no restrictions! You can dance with whomever you like—any combination is allowed.
The theme of the competition is “Old Amsterdam”.
Please register as a couple! Unfortunately, we cannot arrange for a blind date or lottery. If you don’t have a partner, ask for help from your students association or dance school, or post a message on the socials of Amsterdam Open.
The Open Students Competition will start with a qualification round called the “Rembrandt quiz”. The participants will be divided in 2 classes:
A. Tulips
B. Windmills.
After that the regular rounds will be danced based on the number of participants. There will be no Redance.
Qualification round dances:
Latin: Cha-Cha, Rumba and Jive
Standard: Slow Wals, Tango and Quick Step
In the A pool final, Samba and Slowfox will be added.
Competition clothes are not allowed in the Open Students/Debutants competition. However, that’s the only restriction – be creative but keep it decent!
The competition will be adjudicated by active or former dancers and trainers who are involved in the student dance scene. You are encouraged to support your team or student association with songs, dances, billboards, and more.
The NADB competitions
This year we have almost all the NADB-classes spread in the 2 days. Ranking points can be earned for Adults, Seniors and U 21.
